I think that most of the frustration and politically slanted posts here that I've nuked centers around the bumps in the vaccine roll out. These observations on the NYC vaccination probably represent most of the reasons folks are frustrated...

NEW YORK — Fifteen COVID-19 vaccination hubs run by New York City are postponing all first-dose appointments and other sites have stopped making new appointments as the state burns through its supply of the shots, officials said Thursday.

Vaccinations in the city haven’t stopped. Another 45,000 doses were administered Wednesday, bringing the total number of people who have gotten a shot in the city to nearly half a million.

But the city’s capacity to hand out shots, which was initially limited, now far exceeds the number of doses available. All Jan. 21 through Jan. 24 appointments for the first dose of the vaccine at 15 community vaccination hubs set up by the city health department have been postponed to next week.

Gov. Cuomo warned Thursday that the virus could resume its deadly march through the state if unable to continue inoculating New Yorkers due to supply issues.
“The foot race continues between our ability to quickly distribute the vaccine — hampered only by supply —and the virus’ new strains and new cases,” Cuomo said in a statement.

Hoping to boost the inventory of much-needed COVID-19 prevention supplies, President Biden is scheduled to sign several executive orders related to the pandemic including the use of the National Defense Production Act to expedite the making of masks, test kits, and of course, the vaccine.

I had no clue whatsoever that the state of NY had their own factory to produce enough doses to go around.

Where I work we have an unwritten policy of no complaining without providing a viable solution to correct something

So tell me, what exactly can NIY do to to increase production at their factory so all the peeps in NY that want a dose can get one??

FWIW, two of my neighbors who are Veterans were able to get,fairly quickly, appointments in the NYC VA Hospital. Both over 65.

YES, one of my neighbor got his at the VA, and another NY veteran friend has been scheduling.

That being said another veteran friend of all of us here has waiting on the state with no luck. I told him to get on the horn with the VA today!!

I strongly suggest that all of you 65+ that have served call the VA to see about getting vaccinated. Hopefully you'll be given a token of thanks for your service in the form of a COVID vaccination!!!

I have to admit that I am appalled at the idea of allowing pharmaceutical companies to distribute vaccines without the explicit guidance and help of the federal government. Especially considering that they have zero experience with manufacturing or distributing medical products. Nor could they possibly have any concept of logistics or the demographics of the areas where their products are used. It's just amazing what we let them get away with.

And now back to our previously scheduled programming:

My wife and I are in a younger group of folks so it will be a bit until we can get the vaccine. We will continue to be careful and hopefully our number is called sooner than later.

My mother is 73 and received a call from her blood doctor and was told they have been allocated enough vaccine to help her. She awaits her call.
