Aye and there's the rub. At least with the CG commercial license you have to log hours. With the STUPID "you need to pass a boater safety course" law there is no requirement for time at the helm, and THAT is one of the most critical components of seamanship.

I’ve been stacking on the sea time for years. All documented. I guess you can say I’m a real seaman.

Just got in finished replacing the broken handle.....while i was in there i had purchased new door speakers year ago never installed them....for good reason i did driver one was torn up. Tomorrow I’ll finish by installing the new tow style mirror.
