Whats going on in the World

Where did you get one of those??

Aren't they called a "Deuce and a half"?
Sounds better then saying and a half.

It came from Southold. The guy had a problem with it and it would only idle. He wanted 18,000 and settled for 8,000. No one told him to strain the cooking oil before putting in tank. Easy fix. Not mine though, my friend Phil annoys his neighbors driving it to work. Nice conversation piece though at rally’s.

I know what you mean. Its startling how many products are "made in China"..................
Manufacturing always moves to the lowest paid labor market......It was Japan (made in Japan) when I was a kid.....China will outgrow this as Japan did, and corp America will look to the next cheap place to make our chit....it's the bottom line and Americans wanting cheap chit , you cannot profitably make stuff here in the USA....too many cheap skates and Walmart lovers

That's true, but it's not just labor. It's environmental regulations, OSHA, taxes to run the regulatory machine.

How did the politicians who foisted all of that on American business supposedly to protect the American worker manage to fail to protect those very jobs by letting them get shipped overseas?

it really doesn't matter because we evolved into a different type of labor market...service...healthcare...tech...etc. So it's not true that the jobs shipped overseas were not replaced...even without the regs the labor costs alone killed manufacturing in the USA

International travelers set for emotional reunions as U.S. reopens its borders

America had barred air travelers from 33 countries — including China, India and much of Europe — and had also restricted overland entry from Mexico and Canada.

It matters because those industries don't create economic wealth. They're mostly moving money around. Witness China's rapid economic growth and rise to being a global power in a few decades because we gave them our major source of economic atrength. If it was just payroll I guess we could blame unions, but the cost of offshoring, relocating production and transportation is more than the difference in payroll. And frankly, the only reason those service jobs haven't been exported is because they just can't be done by remote control. Yet. Otherwise we'd be getting our healthcare from China just like we get our pharmaceuticals.
