Preparing a UBS MPG stick for the new car and SMFH!! My Opera CDs are truly an endless adventure in that there is little logic in how they were initially "documented" in directory study. You think that "Hey Siri, play Madam Butterfly" would successfully cue up Disc 1 - 3.

Well I know I rag on Siri, but in this case I can't. I happened to discover Disc 3 of Madam Butterfly in a folder that was under ANNE MURRAY???? It's a common evil across most classical music that underwent the old AtoD conversion...
Spent almost the entire day yesterday infuriated by the "archaic" MP3 player software in the new car, a 2016 KIA. They used a most basic software in the "advanced" Multimedia System, far less "user friendly" than the software in either or 2014 Equinox or 2016 Tacoma. In those 2 cars I could use the voice activated system to say "Play Genesis", "Play Pinball Wizard", "Play Album Dark Side of the Moon", and have the song played off an Installed USB Thumb Drive. This car only works on manually selecting songs, albums, or artists...

OK, not too bad, I can deal with that, but like any good Ginsu Ad, "WAIT!! There's MORE!!!"

Copied songs onto a 64 GB stick and plugged it in, NADA!! WTF?? RTFM to find out the the USB sticks must use the antiquated FAT32 format system AND the music folders must be in the root directory. OK, not too much trouble, just need to remember how to reformat the drive to FAT32 and recopy the songs...

Plug in the properly formatted and loaded drive and there was music!! Just clicked on ABBA's greatest hits, no comments this IS the Admiral's Barge and she likes ABBA, and realize the songs are playing in ALPHABETICAL ORDER by song title, not in order of the track number!! That's fine and dandy for greatest hits type of music, but WTF good is that for albums that have songs that must be played sequentially??? I'd hate to listen to Dark Side of the Moon out of order!! Never had this issue with the other cars.

Off to Google and it turns out that quite a few car systems never got the "How to make a decent MP3 player system" and have this problem!!! NOW I'm PISSED!! Time to break out the pocket protector!!

So how the hell was I going to fix this?? Back to Google and it turns out I was able to find a free computer program that let me add the track number at the beginning of the Title, and save the info into the official data file for each CD. By trial and error I got the program to work and did a test run.

Ah 50% there, but of a snag!!! Problem was not specifying two digits for the track number. On a CD with over 9 track there is a problem, as the software will go 1, 10, 2, 3...

OK, found out how to number them 01, 02, 03,...10, 11, 12... All good there but we're talking multiple steps that a single CD could take 15 min and I wanted to "fix" a couple of hundred.

Ah Poseidon was smiling, as the CD info editing program program allowed for automating the conversion and saving a music folder, usually the Artist, at one time. So I spent a few hours doing that and all is good today.

However, I'm still SMFH why such a problem existed? I guess they just figure most folks would be happy to burn data in the car to use Pandora, etc., or use the Bluetooth to stream music from their smartphone. Since the Admiral doesn't have, nor want, any music on her phone, this had to be fixed. Go figure...

Shopping for auto insurance for my two company trucks. Currently have Hartford and they won’t add snowplow insurance for just one truck. Called my personal vehicle insurance ( Allstate) and they won’t either.
Called State Farm and they quoted me almost $4000 less with snow insurance than what I pay now ?
Guess I will be switching companies tomorrow.
