No, opposite of that. Little ice with a little water. Place it in and adjust to 32* It wouldn’t go lower than 40* So I had to turn the nut counter clockwise a bit. Pia for a thermometer that claims to be calibrated right out of the package.?

When I worked at Lauder in Quality Control - my team would gather up all thermometers on the production area (used 'em on things like lipstick, glosses - anything you had to melt to fill). Too high a temperature & you'd "burn" the product. Effects color, viscosity. etc.

Used boiling water. Water boils at a constant temperature (which I forget what that is - 200 F?). Place the Thermometers into that. If not reading 200 F - adjust to that number.

"The Book" said that was the most accurate way.
