Years ago. Since 2005, I have not bought any bait at all, even when I still had my boat. Getting used to just using Gulp on the kayak and with success, I just stopped getting it at all for the boat, and if someone joined me I told them if they did not want to use my Gulp, to bring their own spearing and squid, lol. Now that said, if someone is kind enough to offer me some peanuts, or when snappers are small enough to use for bait, I will never pass up live bait. But no frozen, fresh or cut bait has seen a refrigerator in this house since 2005 ! I just found some old Salty Dogs and Mister Twister plastic lures in the dresser in the garage. Caught my one and only 12+ weak years ago on a Salty Dog, back when everyone was also using jelly worms. Going to give these old plastics a go next time out, especially since the freezer is full of filets and venison. We enjoy these summer weaks, vacuum sealed and frozen, so much more than fluke or stripers. In the spring when I have no live bait, I still do OK on the weaks with pink Gulp on homemade bucktail and silicone skirted bucks.
