So you're catching a few hundred (300) fish in 4 hours? That means you're boating a fish every 75 seconds (300/4x60)*60), and that doesn't include time for unhooking, measuring, tagging, rerigging, if needed, and casting.

You must be quite efficient in your fishing, or really full of it.

OK, let's redo the math to 100 fish a day in 4 hours, which means 25 fish an hour, so that's 2.4 minutes per fish, without all the other caveats. Heck, when I catch one over the slot fish, I spend at least 3-4 minutes between unhooking and reviving it to the point it can swim away on its own.

Still, hyperbole...

And here's another potential fly in the ointment in the very convoluted origin equation. Don't have any details besides this news flash, but the fact that China was sensitive gives great pause...

Don't like quoting myself, but I want to clearly state what these new data show, and don't show. The nightly news said everything, but the way it was presented strongly suggested it was a validation of the Live Market Origin. You had to read between the lines to understand what it all really means.

What did this study show?

• That a Raccoon Dog at the Wuhan Market had COVID virus, that's all.

What didn't it show?

• How the Raccoon Dog got infected
  • Was it transmitted to the RD by a human?
  • Was it transmitted to the RD from another RD?
  • Was it transmitted to the RD from a different animal?
  • Was it caused by a leak from a lab?

As I mentioned in a previous post, it's just "interesting data", but in no way provides any definitive proof of the origins of COVID. I'm just extremely upset in how this is being presenting such that it's a very strong statement supporting the Live Market Origin. In my professional evaluation, all it does is not preclude the Live Market Origin as a possibility...

Well, since you stirred the pot, here's how I understand things....
I'm sure the data showed 90ish % reduction in infection of the virus that was prevalent at the time the studies were run (on actual humans) and the data was collected.
Unfortunately, not everyone got vaccinated and many folks were lax in their social distancing and mask wearing. We let the virus replicate many orders of magnitude more than it should have. In any event, whether or not it was preventable, the virus mutated, and continues to mutate.
These mutations were not as readily addressed by the original vaccines. That's why effectiveness went down during the Omicron surge. You may recall that newer boosters were said to be more closely directed to the newer, more prevalent mutations.
No one ever said the vaccine would last forever, and the quicker than what many expected waning in effectiveness is likely related to the new virus strains.
It remains exceptionally effective at keeping folks alive and out of the hospital.
Also, that "natural immunity" that was touted by some has also been shown to wane over time, especially against new strains.
