Had an unusual year this go around, with slight overpayments for both Feds and US, finally getting quarterly estimates pretty much on the money for both entities. Usually I get a significant Fed refund, and owe Maine.

Taxes filed, 2023 1Q estimated taxes paid...

Gotta love consulting for Big Pharma!

That's why my Fed refund was less than normal this year, decided to really retire, cut down on the consulting, and make sure I get as much out of the SSA I can before one side forces it to go broke, or the other forces all to kick in more.

It's great sitting up on a hill, watching two potential train wrecks while having a beer and a cup of chowdah!!

I'm screwed in 2025 with RMDs, but I'll still be in a lower tax bracket than when I put the monies away...

After living overseas and seeing what others pay in taxes I find our preoccupation with whining about our taxes as a bit amusing, We don't know from suffering.

The only tax I found obnoxious was the AMT for exercised qualified stock options that you held, paying on what you might make when you sell. Hey, you makes your money, you pay yours taxes, that's a given, but paying tax on potential grates on one. Thankfully "W" give a window where I was able to recoup almost all of those payments.

My wife and son declared I should be the mayor of that town and laughed about it non stop the whole trip and ever since.
