And the point of the hook DOES NOT make a 90 degree angle with the hook shank. Octopus hooks are J-hooks with the eye turned away from the hook. The package correctly says In Line Octopus, not the required In Line Circle, but sure, go ahead and use them and explain your definition when DEC writes you the ticket.

Lets just put this to bed now... In the OG photo you couldn't see the hook points or the packaging with the glare. Heres better pics.

As you can see the hook point is at a 90 degree. And the packaging does say circle. I've been doing this for a while...?

I just won't argue with people online anymore.?

By the way since they changed that rule for bait I've gut hooked 50 percent of the bass I've caught on bait which has been about 2 of them. I stopped bait fishing quite some time ago and those that know me know all I did was chunk back then. I never gut hooked one bass in many, many years on a J hook. I never eeled from the surf very often if at all. kinda a new endeavor for me.
