Whats on TV

Just watched after my oral surgery today. Truly well made. Before I retired in 2011 I interviewed dozens of future "terps" and their character references for their security clearances, needed for Iraq and Afghanistan. Other NY agents dreaded what few I didn't do, lol, but I found it the most rewarding episode of my 35 years in the gubmint.
Watched it today, powerful movie. (y)

Frevee channel on Roku is fantastic!

They got the Twilight Zone series and the complete Hawaii Five 0 series from the 1970's in brilliant color like the show was just made. Many other great shows and the commercial breaks are very short. You can get that channel free.

Instead of stating multiple new threads, here's what I've been watching...

DISNEY +

  • THE ORVILLE - Finished Season Three, probably the best SciFi series out there. McFarland writes some fine SciFi scripts and when he plays with screwing around with time, he's far better than his peers, see comments on Loki below. Hope they're in for a Season Four.

  • ASHOKA - Season One, big disappointment, like most of the Star Wars series on Disney. Episodes drag on and on, a toddler could do a better of editing job here. I find myself frequently saying, "Please end this scene before I die of old age." The "Cliffhanger" ending of the season was far from cliff hanging, more like, "No shit they're planning a Season Two", no resolution of anything major, and I doubt I'll even bother if they do a Season Two. So far the only Disney produced Star Wars series that I enjoyed and am hoping for additional seasons has been OBI-WAN KENOBI.

  • LOKI - Season Two opener. Enjoyed the first 2/3s of Season One, but it got really weird towards the end, as many time-shifting shows tend to. Well the opener is beyond weird, way too challenging to keep track of the timeline of what you're viewing. Will try to watch it again because it had me nodding off, but may bail on this one if it's still a snorer... OK, strike the above, re-watched today and it was pretty good. Helps not to nod off while watching. I will continue to watch as the Season 2 episodes drop...
AMAZON VIDEO
  • THE WHEEL OF TIME - Started watching Season One when it first came out, but lost interest, only to have it renewed back in late August, so we picked it back up. Season One ended with a reasonably closed-out ending that allowed it to "die" or have a Season Two, which is what happened. Season Two kind of dragged and I won't be upset if they let it die. Overally, I have mixed emotions about the video and the books, too much emulating LOTR, both textually and cinematically, and doing it poorly with both media.
