Not a one for me, from local stripers, large bergalls, cod, pollock, BSB, and haddock, nor LI Fluke...To those of you who consistently examine the stomach contents of your catch, how many of you discovered plastic baits?
None. And even if they try, due to the cost of Gulp, they are forced to relinquish. Not a one for me, from local stripers, large bergalls, cod, pollock, BSB, and haddock, nor LI Fluke...
Gulp is definitely the ticket my 86 year fishing buddy uses them straight up nothing else, I always tip with squid or spearing and he out does me every timeFor all of you who drank the Koolaid and want to do the "right thing", send me your Gulp!. Pink and white in smaller sizes preferred.
When you have to pick through 20-30 fish an outing to get something for the table, the Gulp can go real quickly. And don’t forget the tail biters that never make it to the boat!Cost of Gulp! ? Since I have often caught several fish on the same piece of Gulp! and it "rejuvenates" so well, I think it is more economical as well as so much more convenient. Buying it online, no wasted gas going to the dicks at Dicks, lol.
Please allow me to follow up on this. In the thread Mike "Salty" Fogg, pequa1 asked :
"Perhaps someone can ask "Salty" about non-biodegradeable plastics ? (I would but having oral surgery the day before.) My offer to rent out my "NY Angler.com" hoodie or tee still stands though, lol !"
It seemed like a very reasonable request. I sent him an email reply as he mentioned he may block this thread. He asked me to “Maybe post in the thread too ?”
He is my email:
“Please allow me to follow up on our discussion “Is this me or is this scary”. Since you may have blocked the posts, I am replying here.
I asked “Salty” if Stony Brook examined stomach contents. He said he did not, he was more interested in fish tagging.
At John Skinners seminar, John mentioned he saw the scientists at “GULP”. So, I asked him about GULP digestibility. He said the GULP scientists did studies on this. His reply was basically that the GULP passes through the fish and is biodegradable.
You were right. We are not leaving a bunch of fish dead in water”
My only addition to what I mention is that I now feel comfortable using GULP and Fishbites (they replied and mentioned their product was digestible and passable). Sometimes a little research helps. Also, if you have a theory, a good scientist will do his best to disprove it.
is something left standing in plain water the same as something left in the gastrointestinal liquids of a live animal ?
the owner of a certain tackle shop near me once placed a Gulp! on his counter and showed all customers how it hardly changed over the weeks. of course said owner wanted to sell frozen bait and not compete with the dicks at Dicks or Amazon selling Gulp!
