Uconn

After a stressful couple of days, Husky Nation is now breathing a sigh of relief 👍👍👍

TOTALLY a worthwhile investment
The $$ generated from being a 2 time in a row national champion is huge
Their upcoming schedule this year is loaded with huge TV paydays
The amount of students that want to come to UCONN and spend $$ and put that $$ back in to the state fund is huge
Have you ever been to Downtown Hartford on a Saturday UCONN mens bb gameday? Or any other day?
The usually empty bars and restaurants are packed!!!!

Like it or not, college sports is BIG BUSINESS and the state of CT is smart enough to treat it as such

I hear you.

But it starts with taxpayer money. So with all that success and big money, does the taxpayer receive a check back with a percentage of the profits? A return on their "investment"? Where does that profit go? Don't answer that!

Ultimately the taxpayer funds for other to reap profits.

Just saying.

They get to wear a shirt that says 2 time National Championship😎

Why does everything need to be viewed as whats in it for me and money, money, money?? Its kinda odd to think you can or should get a return dividend on every dime spent, no?

I’m sure my sons tuition bill at UConn is going up and I will be directly affected but I’m not complaining 😎

TV money is divided among Big East member schools.

All money from the NCAA tournament is divided among Big East member schools.

Every campus in the country has packed bars when their teams play.

Let's see how happy taxpayers will be when coaches and players are paid more than the governor!!!

I’m sure my sons tuition bill at UConn is going up and I will be directly affected but I’m not complaining 😎 - You should not complain at all. You made that decision with YOUR money, NOT mine as a taxpayer. This is the exact point that I try to make each and every time. I have little to no concern how you spend your money. You earned it, therefore it is none of my business. On the flip side, I find it abhorrible when someone spends mine besides my family and I.

Bold type huh? 🤔
I was NOT the one complaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did you miss that??
I used caps and exclamation points for emphasis 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm happy this was all in the off-season.
I think the NCAA should ban football coaches from jumping ship between the last game of the season and the bowls.

As far as college coaches around the country making more than any other public employee, for the last 5,000 years or so, since civilization replaced almost all the hunter-gatherer tribes, we, as civilized humans, have decided that it is in everyone's best interest to pool resources and have a small few decide what to do with those resources. Is it always fair? Of course not. But Conn.'s budget is large enough that whether UCONN pays their coach $3 million or $7 million a year will have no effect on tax rates regardless whether a successful team has overall benefits that offset the salary increase.

OK, now that we hopefully got past all that….

What do you think this season will bring?
My opinion is a three peat will be extremely difficult if not impossible
They will have a target on them every time they step on the court and every team they face will be motivated by the opportunity to be the team to take them down

OK
I’m confused as all shit now
Is this thread about Uconn basketball now officially highjacked and turned into a platform to oppose and decry sports programs at publicly funded state institutions as a waste of taxpayer dollars??? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

OMG 😱
It’s outta control
Alex Karaban is going to be throwing the first pitch at Fenway Saturday for Sox vs Yankees
Entire team and coaching staff naking the trip
The travesty of $$$ being spent. Holy Crap

That sounds awesome. As long as it is not on the taxpayers’ dime! 8-)
