Gotta reset your expectations. If I can go out and enjoy the boat and beauty of the sound and catch more than 1 striped bass on average, life is very very good. Not sure I’d still put a line in the water after a 10th bass. Would probably call it a night and head home.

Agree. Not complaining. Maybe this year is a great year.

3 of us had 15 bass to 29” fishing plastics by boat today. Every fish a schoolie, except for the one 29”er.

picked up my boat yesterday from the Saugutuck River and ran it back to Stamford. water was 53 degrees in the river, 45 degrees in the open sound, and 47 degrees inside stamford Harbor. Just an FYI.

I was out in Mount Sinai harbor yesterday the water temps were between 48 and 50 degrees depending on where you were in the harbor.Fish stacked in the shallows but no takers also lots of bait balls of small fish and some larger fish assuming it is bunker and they were down low in the deeper parts of the harbor around 30 ft

Fished twice for a short period on boat this weekend. 1st trip 2 bass chunked to 17 pounds.
2nd trip skunked.
Water temp dropped to 47.5 on 2nd trip (Saturday PM).

Had a few nice fish trolling Yesterday afternoon then plugged some schoolies in the bay

Tried again. Slow. Not much bait anywhere.

chunked for bass last night on the incoming. got two shorts - tagged and released. bunker flipping EVERYWHERE and swimming through my sonar all night. several large fish marks, but no keeper bites or runs. I'll take the two fish for my first action of the season though, gotta start somewhere!

Fished chunks and troll yesterday in all the classic early season spots. Zero.
Saw little to no bait as well.

Al, what was the water temp down the Western end?

Working on putting new risers in - think im sidelined for at least another 2-3 weeks.

Back bays were 55-57. Sound was 52-54.

Chunked a 33” keeper on Friday night during the last hour and a half of the outgoing. 47 feet of water. 53 degree water. Tagged and released.
