I think they were pretty specific regarding ANYONE OPERATING A MOTORVESSEL in New York Waters has to be certified.Curious, lets say you want to clean up the boat or rig up the rods (just an example) and you ask a friend take over for a bit.
You still OK?
Whether they will ever stop anyone and ask for documentation is another question
I think it's a good thing for anyone operating a boat to take this class. Specifically, many guys who have operated a boat for many years STILL don't know right of way rules and what different bouys mean.
Too many close calls while at anchor, etc, etc.......
Thanks for posting. I fish NJ but often traverse NY waters. As of January 1st any boat operator will need a certification certificate to operate any vessel in any NY waterway has anyone else read up on this.
Just so I am more specific....I think they were pretty specific regarding ANYONE OPERATING A MOTORVESSEL in New York Waters has to be certified.
Just in case, I went ahead a few years ago and did the online class so I gots me my sirtificate, lest I visit an LI friend and have to take the helm...
True enough, even when they're totally inane...I guess the rules are the rules.
On January 1st, we already have a candidate for the worst comment of the yearI'm sure there's some dead kid's name attached to it too. Not gonna bring them back either.
Brianna's Law has good intentions.
