Snub?

The game was probably scheduled a year in advance and Duke sells out quickly. Hard to change things up at the last minute.

I was a Junior at St. John's in 1985 when they went to the Final 4 that year. It was incredible on Campus that year.Intense Media coverage. I remember Chris Mullin standing outside a class room wearing a dungaree jacket. Passed right by him. President Reagan visited St. John's in the Spring of 1985 and gave a speech in Alumni Hall. Praised the St. John's Basketball team for being #1 in the nation. Joked that Lou Carneseca was on a special mission ( The NCAA Tournament) and wasn't here today. I graduated with Mark Jackson. Saw Bill Wennington only once, in the old cafeteria . Never saw Louie. The Old St. John's in the 1980's was like a run down High School. Now it's nice and modern.
St. John's should've hired a guy like Pitino years ago. I blame Father Harrington for neglecting the basketball team in the early 2000's. He was more focused on modernizing the campus and less on the basketball team. Fran Franchilla would of been a great coach if he didn't do that thing with Arizona.
I hope St. John's gets seeded in the East with Duke and they play in Newark. They'll have a Stadium full with St. John's fans.
The ACC will merge with the Big East in a few years, St. John's , Georgetown , Villanova , Marquete , UCONN , Creighton, Xavier will join North Carolina , Duke , Notre Dame, Syracuse , Pitt. and the rest of the ACC and form the best college basketball conference in America. That's my prediction.

The above is spot on for St. Johns. Graduated in January of 1980. Saw Looie on campus many times. He was a guest in one of my classes. Spoke and answered questions from the students. He was a true gentleman and an icon.
I had Wayne McKoy and Reggie Carter(RIP) in many of my classes.
Agree that Fr. Harrington ran the basketball program and the university into the ground. His only concern was $$$$. Took a long time to recover from all the damage Fr. Harrington did to the university.

Glad to see Coach Pitino at the helm. St. Johns is relavant again. He should have been hired ten years ago.
The NY area fans and alumni came back after a long wait. Good to see MSG packed agian and people into
St Johns basket ball again.

Enjoy the run while you can
They are looking and playing strong right now👍

Lou Carneseca was a legendary coach and even better man
The kind of guy you would expect to be representing a religious affiliated school

Pitino on the other hand is a legendary coach who’s results are undebatable
Unfortunately he is no where near the quality of a man Lou was
Im sure he cares greatly for the program and players on the team but the white suit and attention he seeks for himself is quite telling

SJU sold their sold to the devil and put winning over values and principles

Lets see how it all plays out

We differ on opinion here.

Pitino is trying to take the focus off the players. Especially in regards to 3 point shooting and free throws.
His players seem to enjoy playing for him and SJU.
This are more positive than they have been in a long time.
Yes I am enjoying the ride
I hope it continues

I get all that and what you say reinforces my point
Yes, great coach who wins
But….
He is building HIS legacy and not SJU’s

As a graduate of a Catholic religious based University are you willing turn a blind eye to the fact that he and his staff at Louisville were accused and or suspected of providing prostitutes to recruits
Isn’t that a bit contradictory to the moral teachings of the church?
So Win at any and all cost?
As I said, sold their soul to the devil

And for perspective, I always rooted for St Johns back in the 80’s and always pulled for them until a few years ago

My allegiance is now with another Big East team thats rather successful😎
My dislike is for Pitino , not SJU

Stop with the self-righteousness!

The way UConn treated Kevin Ollie was an embarrassment and undeserved. The way Hurley handles himself on the sideline is abusive and out of line.

Stick to basketball and leave the mk morality comments to the ladies on theView.

Self righteous?? LOL
I admittedly have my flaws
Kevin Ollie had his issues as well
Hurley won back to back titles and is still in the midst of a 20 win season at a PUBLIC university and not a religious school but is actually a devout catholic and highly religious

Interesting that folks think morality at a religious institution is not Important or doesn’t matter

Good Luck to your team

Just hope they don't get tricked into saying something political. Players were invited also. Maybe they'll sing You gotta have Heart, all you need is heart like the 1969 Mets sang on the Ed Sullivan show after winning the World Series. NYC will go wild if St. John's wins a National Championship. Ticker Tape Parade.

You got a LONG ways to go before planning a ticker tape parade my friend 🤦‍♂️

Avenger Jr. is on a plane to D.C. this morning for Stony Brook Men's crack at the playoffs. Considering how the team has been playing they're probably going to be flying back pretty soon. First game is at 2:00.
