I don’t think it’s OK that they jump the border, but until we have a comprehensive border plan we have to live with it. And we came so very close to having one in 2024 but Trump nixed it.

I'm sure the illegals are doing better here than where they came from. That still doesn't mean they're not being exploited. The whole world would come here if they could. Unfortunately our economy and real estate can't assimilate them beyond a limited rate. That's just a hard reality that we have to work with.

Meanwhile, I'd bet you think income inequality is a major problem too. But you're still okay with people being exploited which keeps wages low. Another hard reality is it artificially suppress wages for legally employed people too.

BTW, I'm not bigoted enough to assume that every restaurant worker or hotel staff is an illegal. And to be fair, there's not that much either of us can do about it. Nobody going out to eat or stay at a hotel is going to get an honest answer if they inquire with the maitre de about the status of the staff

However, I am willing to find out what happens if they are illegal and are removed. Doing things domestically and legally will cost more. Oh well. I'm willing to pay more to support American jobs and industry. In the long run it's a lot cheaper and more beneficial than semi-paid slavery and sending our manufacturing to China.

Okay. Well done. The only point I would disagree on is the artificial suppression of wages. As an employer I often looked at the cost disparity and realize that at some point it becomes worth the risk to hire people who work for substandard wages. Not that I did it, but it was easy to see where someone would. And yes they are the bottom rung jobs. But they still need to be done. That's one reason why Americans won't do these jobs. Because their income that's competitive with that tipping point is still too low. If the illegal option wasn't there the market would force the wages to be reasonable.

And yes, there are Americans who are too entitled to do certain jobs. Often ones that were sold a bill of goods about a college degree in underwater basket weaving. But I'm sure there are enough that would show up for a real market driven wage.
