Bass Pro Shops

If the post on Farcebook is correct, Lawnguyland may be getting its very first Outdoor World at the old Sears Auto Center in Hicksville. I am hoping its a full size BPS. I wonder if they will sell any shooting or hunting stuff. I am also hoping its the beginning of the end for the dicks at Dicks. (Yes, I carry a grudge, lifelong at times.)

Here in FL I have one about 90 minute drive north of me and another about 90 minutes south of me.

I don’t think all the mom & pop bait & tackle shops would think it’s so fantastic.
I've seen it with the golf stores. PGA superstore put alot of smaller stores out of business. BPS has such buying power that the mom and pops can't compete! I don't mind spending a little extra with the small guy then the big box.

20, 30 years ago this would have impactd my retirement savings lol. Now, I am selling off stuff. I will go to look at the aquarium and taxidermy without having to cross the Delaware...

Since I've only been to a Cabela's or Bass Pro about twice I may misunderstand but my impression is they they're charging list price for everything. So, other than one-stop convenience and theater I can't see it being a significant threat to my local tackle shop.

Dick's OTOH, well, they can't go the way of Sports Authority fast enough.

Agree on the dicks at Icks. Way back in the early 2000s when I was stocking up on ammo and surf plugs I found BPS and Cabelas to have good prices. Would buy my 2cylinder outboard oil there too. However IMHO, the "aura" alone will lure many away from the locals.
