Two kayakers had to be rescued in the waters off Nassau’s south shore Monday evening.

The men had ventured out around 6:30 p.m., south of Alhambra Beach in Massapequa when they encountered strong winds and currents, police say.

After the elements pushed them further from shore and prevented them from paddling back, they resorted to calling 911 for help.

Nassau County Marine Bureau 6, Nassau County Helicopter 4 and the Town of Oyster Bay Constables were able to locate the kayakers.

The men were taken aboard the vessel and brought safely back to shore along with their kayaks.

I go out of Alhambra about 25% of the time. These two fools are lucky they don't have to pay ! Yes it was windy that early evening, but these two jackasses panicked to the point of having to pull out a cell phone ?!
In Massapequa Cove with a north wind, all they were going to do was end up on a marsh island a half mile away. I wish the report included their names. they should have left the yaks out there. These two idiots should not be allowed to paddle.
