Finally, the "Perfect" Tide Clock...

So I’m trying to figure out why the blue light in the tide column, 1 light above the clock circle is staying on
I wonder if thats saying high tides are currently running lower than normal?

On the Ebb, the Bottom LED, be it Blue (Average), Green (just above/below Average), Orange (10% different from Average), Red (20% different from Average) will represent the level of the IMPENDING LOW TIDE, while the top LED is the level for the NEXT HIGH TIDE. So you've basically got a snapshot of the next 11ish hours of tidal situation.

Conversely, on the FLOOD, the Top LED is the level for the IMPENDING HIGH TIDE, while the bottom LED is the NEXT LOW TIDE.

BTW, each LED is about 1/20 of the Average Tidal Range, which works out to around 6" for me. These come out of MA so it's geared for big azz tides, unlike those seen on LI, especially the GSB.

Look for the Easter Egg on Memorial Day!!

Anyway, here's the manual!!! NexTide Manual

Full Moon Tonight, but check this tide schedule.
  • Extremely wimpy, but this time of year New Moon better than Full Moon. A "manly tide" moon tide will have a tidal range of almost 14'. Today's ~8' is neap tide status
  • The time of the AM/PM high/low tide is only 1 minute different, not the normal 15ish minutes
All the reason for ignoring your analog tide clock and getting something digital that pulls the data from the NOAA database, the reason I bought a NexTide...

Aside from the very cool appearance and factual information, I guess with the tidal swings in your area it does truly indicate when you can float or walk to your favorite spots.

BTW, the Memorial Day "Easter Egg" was really nice. I assume I can expect the same on Independence Day weekend, correct?

We noticed the festive Memorial Day colors as well
This week when it was showing higher than normal highs I kept my eye on the water in my local spot and was impressed by the accuracy!!

Interesting observation showing just how detailed oriented the NexTide clocks are. My Plum Island was feeling lonely at my desk so I got a second Pemaquid Point one to keep it company. I changed the Plum Island light tide station from Pemaquid Point to Plum Island Harbor, figuring I'd keep each clock on its true location.

Well today is Patriots Day, the 251th celebration of the Battles of Lexington and Concord and MA, ME, FL, WI, CT, ND, UT and TN are the states that celebrate that holiday. The NexTide clocks go Red, White and Blue for all National Holiday. I realized today that's true for National Holidays and may be true for State Holidays of the selected Tide Stations' States. Think I'll check with the Creator, who's in MA, if that's true for all Patriotic State Holidays...

Love the Pemaquid Point one
Brings back great memories 😎
Ditto your comments, Chinacat.

Pemaquid remains my favorite ME lighthouse, hands down!

I am also impressed at the attention to detail the folks at NexTide exhibit. Still love and rely on my own piece. But I am a bit torn over loyalty. I purchased the Montauk version, but have it set to Plum Gut!

NOAA Data Feed Alert The NOAA data feed that the NexTide clocks use is down and if you don't already see your next tide clock looking like mine, they will by Monday morning unless NOAA get's the problem fixed. Will post when NOAA issue is fixed!!

Thanks flor the heads up
Yes mine does look that this morning and you saved me a bunch of wondering as to why👍

I also appreciate the heads up on the NOAA outage.

However, I am puzzled. Chinacat and I live less than 15 miles apart on eastern LI and my tide clocks never went down. Any theories, Roccus?
So far, me & @Chinacat are the only NexTide users here that were impacted yesterday.

I didn't get into the details, but according to The Creator, 1/3 of all NexTide clocks download the new NOAA tide data every night, so you both or yours were in that 2/3 category.

Look at me, all 3 of my clocks were FUBAR, what a lucky SOB!! Actually I'm glad mine were in sync, I would have gone crazy trying to figure it out. With all 3 of them acting the same, I quickly reasoned it was something at a more central location.

I didn't ask how those clocks are assigned to the 3 different update groups, but assumed it was random as he told me 2/3 of his clocks at home, he has a bunch, were fine with 1/3 looking like mine...

What I did learn yesterday is that NOAA fixed their problem on yesterday and had the website broadcast the new data so my clocks "got their mind right"...

I wonder if GPS powerhouses were screaming bloody murder during the day...
