Halle-F#$king-luhah!! Finally on the board...

The worse thing about that sign is it discourages the casual tourist who might want to take his kid out and hurts the captains who need business and try to drill it out even when fishing is tough.
First, he's the only game in town, so he isn't hurting anyone else. He did say "Call" if you really want to try so he can give accurate information.

I find it amazingly refreshing that a guide would be totally honest instead of the usual BS to try to drum up business. The guy specializes in tidal river striped bass fishing. That fishing in his river is absolutely abysmal this year, the same as my river, which is one over. FYI my boat has basically been sitting at the dock this year the fishing is so poor. You can only go out so many times with zero signs of fish...

is there bunker by you
New fishing grounds, new rules...

Yes, we have pogies, the Northern New England name for bunker. It's hysterical when someone from away comments how badly the porgies they cooked tasted. Guess they thought that missing R was a typo...

The pogies in my backyard haven't been hassled by anything this year, which is surprising, as usually it's seals and I can hear the schools scattering from the house, another reason for my not fishing bait in the estuaries. You're more likely to have a seal grab a snagged or live-lined pogy than a striper, and to add insult to injury, if you hook a striper, there's a damn good chance a seal is going steal it off your hook from you...
