the "What are you doing NOW" thread (part deux)

well that didn't go as planned..........................

Needed to replace my kitchen sink. Used Sam the Plumber to do the job. If it involves water - it's sure to leak somewhere if I do it - so.............................

Issue # 1
Whoever installed the old one wanted to make sure it wasn't going anywhere. Damn thing was hard glued onto the tile countertop. Trying to get it out 1/2 the tiles came with it. Not a big deal was planning on replacing the countertop anyway.
Issue # 2
The garbage disposal was shot or about to be shot. Had to run up the ACE hardware (about 15 miles) for a new one.
Issue # 3
I got back & Sam (you remember Sam the Plumber) he have another problem. The new sink won't fit in the opening even though the outside dimensions are the same (33 X 22). They cut the hle to match the interior dimensions of the old sink.
Issue #4
In order to fit it they have to cut out more of the tile which was glued to 1/4" cement backer board which was cemented to 3/4" plywood.
Issue # 5
If I'm going to put granite on it "someday" it actually needs to go on now - before the sink goes in. All of the drains & the hook up to the garbage disposal would have to be redone.
Issue # 6
Find out if the Brit has enough of the granite here in Onancock & if he can install it like tomorrow.
Issue # 7
I'm leaving for Richmond in the morning & may not be back for at least a week.

Resolution:
Brit has the granite
  • He'll install tomorrow while I'm away providing I leave a fridge filled with cold beer. (y)
  • Sam the Plumber will return two weekends from now to finish the installation.

Meanwhile I've got a hole in the counter & no sink & the job everyone thought would take an hour to do is now stretching out to two weeks.

Waiting for the arrival of a thunderstorm in the next few minutes ❤️
