9/11 ...... Will always be a somber day for me

Heard on the news this morning - every senior in HS and the classes below was born after that day, which is crazy.

Just heard several fire station sirens going marking 8:46. Eighteen years have gone by and it still chokes me up. ?

not a year has gone by without another emotional shock on this day - the shedding of a tear - as I type - the "reading of the names" is on in the background - I remember everything about that morning as though it were yesterday & how it has fundamentally changed this nation (and myself) - perhaps forever



On this day... 18 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift.

None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001.
In one single moment life may never be the same.

As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

So strange but I totally agree with this. All Americans lost a lot that day, but New Yorkers still feel it. There should be a National Moment of Silence so the rest of the country is reminded.

I run a foundation for NYC Firefighters, bravestfoundation.org www.bravest.com and the stats on the health of everyone from the kids in the nearby schools, to 1000's of FDNY and NYPD and all rescue workers at that time, are staggering. Each and every day there is the family of a first responder finding out that their loved one, who put it all on the line that day, will once again have to fight for their life. It's the silent epidemic. 202 FDNY members have died and 1000's of others are facing life-threatening diseases since 9/1101
