Firewood

Well, I'm done for the season. Stopped about 2 weeks ago. Still have wood but I burned so much its's time to clean the chimney. Go to the point I was losing draft and when I would open the door to add wood smoke came into the house. After setting the smoke alarms off for the 3rd time my wife and son told it was time to stop, LOL:eek::ROFLMAO::mad:

You can't burn the house down, I'm afraid your insurance company wouldn't understand. 8-)

still burning occasionally at night to get the chill off...................

We've been 60's - 70's during the day but still dropping down into the 50's or lower at night which triggers the heat to come on. I'd rather pay for the wood then the electric - so I'm still at it.

Burning seasons just around the corner?

I have 6+ cords stacked and ready to go.
Everything I gathered last year is split.
I'm now on the prowl to start gathering for next season.

Rumor has it theres a small pile in Moriches I can have if I get there one of these dayso_O8-)?

Nice looking green wood.

How long do you wait to split?
And how long would that need to be seasoaned for?

My plan is to split and replenish as I burn this seasons wood. It worked out good last year having a pile on hand.
Basically I have storage space for about 7 split cords. Once I burn through a cord I'll start splitting and refilling that spot. Last year with not much snow it was easy to do it that way. This wood won't be burned until NEXT winter, not this year...

Ideally it will sit and season for about a year before I burn it after splitting it. Doesn't really seem to matter whether I season it before splitting or not.
