The Onancock Chronicles the Eastern shore

Macks - this popped up in my feed om Facebook. Thought you might want to have the link for future reference.

Yes I'm dealing with them right now since I started a small project without there knowledge..lol

Rut-roh, running afoul of HOA Covenants? Real PITA and I get it from both ends, being HOA President who tends to cast a "blind eye" until someone pulls out the covenants and starts moaning and groaning. That person is usually the developer who set up the HOA and acts like the Chief Justice, interpreting the rules as he sees fit. Had a big one with him last year when he thought an easement was being ignored, but turned out he, the person who put the road in, didn't have a clue where the road was in relation to the two property lines between it.

Can't wait until he sells his last lot here so he's out of our lives...

Is it a waterfront lot?

I asked my HOA president (Pungoteague)
if I needed to get permission to remove 5 very large pines. He said "Are they on your property?" I said yes. He asked why I was even asking. I got the feeling they are pretty laid back.

Yeah, but there's no water for almost 1/4 of a tide. We do have an HOA dock for dinghies and a mooring field.

Tree removals for waterfront property, OY. It's a state thing and there's a 50 page book explaining it. Suffice it to say there's a lot of praying or helping trees fall over in a good storm. Get this, although it's rarely enforced, a dead tree is supposed to be left standing, unless it's in danger of hitting anything important.

They take it real seriously, levying 5 figure fines for egregious violations. So JoJo from CT bought a 1 acre lot and clear cut it on Sebago Lake and got nailed with a $250K fine which stood after multiple appeals.

The Kid that cut a few trees down for us had get approval from the county planning because the trees were within one hundred feet of the water.

They are between 90' and 110' from the water, right next to the house and garage. Guess I should check with the county planning commission first. Thanks for that Macks.

you're talking about the ones that were in the front of your house?

In the back yard ..... behind the garage.
