Your friend sounds like a fighter to me! He can win.

As I read this thread it’s obvious many of us are frustrated, under stress and overwhelmed at what’s happening in the world today. This thread is a microcosm of the world right now as we all look for an answer.

I thought that we would be united as a nation as we did back in 9/11 and root for the USA to find the cure. I NEVER expected it to be so politicized and so much disagreement infighting and all the all-around “I got mine” approach that we are seeing.

Every living American caught in this storm is being affected in one way or another and most views have validity. I just wish we would all take a step back and work together on solutions.

Well stated George(y)

It’s a very nice sentiment George

but unlike 9/11
We are all effected differently
And we don’t all agree on the steps that have been taken or the way or even need to move forward at what speed and what’s the acceptable risk ( both health and economy wise )

the simple truth is in this country the steps they’ve taken can’t be sustained
The many many ppl across the country won’t stand for it

they were ok with it for 2 weeks went along for 45 days
But now the cracks are well formed and deepening

Prepare for the dissension to intensify
And I’m not talking about on the site
But in the world

I agree Tony. The handwriting is on the wall. I too am a small business owner and this PPP and whatever else they have is BS. The unemployment system is a disaster and I am doing everything I can to keep my business alive.

Each state will open as they see fit and the other states will learn from that. I'm about to write about a post I had with DEC and NYS officials in Albany. They don't know what to do either. By the time I got off the phone, I knew less about the regs.

But I understand that this is a once in a century situation and there are going to be kinks in the system. I am also confident that they would love to see us fishing. They just haven't agreed on it.

I still think that the boats for hire could show cause that they are necessary as the anglers are feeding their family. But there's no unity there so it probably won't happen.

I'm not sure that I agree it's going to get worse. Let's just hope and pray that the states which are opening are doing the right thing. Because if they are we are sure to follow.

I sincerely hope that this is a correct statement and we learn from it to keep it that way in a world far more mobile and multinational than in 1917/18. As they say, "Those who are not familiar with history are doomed to repeat it."

It would behoove the powers that be to keep this event on an eternal front burner and make, implement and maintain solid practices to minimize the impact WHEN the next ugly virus/bacteria raises it's ugly head...

I’m less worried about the boats in general ( believe it or not)
Most longer running operations will squeak by till summer and maybe eek out enough to get thru next spring

my bigger concern is the new operations, and those that made big upgrades and carry big notes

the restaurants that won’t make it , and their ppl

travel and tourism in the city
mans a host of other businesses that will shutter

The city’s loss in revenue , budget and service cuts
Will cause more damage than this particular virus ever could

Just saw a news report of a tailor n clothing store in Manhattan opening up
And his neighboring stores say they are opening on Monday

no matter how hard the state tries to continue this lock down
It’s going to collapse here and across the country

It’s been happing capt13
One Nypd pct set up a 10 pm to 2am barber session
Underground bars are already in operation

now it’s staring to Strech out into brick and mortar stores

the only thing stoping it from growing faster is fear of losing permits or
Business certificates issued by the city
But even that will give way with only the most vulnerable to city retribution being stuck closed

The ppl no longer fear the virus they fear the ramifications of being shut down

with the exception of those either working or stuffing their pockets with free govt money
Those folks are content to continue down this miserable and destructive path

I see this as similar to 911. Shortly after I lost our day office at the World Trade Center, I had the "opportunity" to do TDY in other areas of the country, St Louis, California, etc. Except when I did TDY in DC including the Pentagon you would have thought the other areas somehow skipped thinking about ragheads murdering our fellow Americans. Doing my part this time around but in a different manner: have done takeout twice with a local Italian restaurant, twice with our chinese place, and once with our favorite fried chicken place, lol.

I am open to understanding what your trying to say, just open this up a bit wider so it can be completely considered even if it may be completely rediculous.

My only concern is we may need to close the liquor stores in both your areas.

It’s easy enough to understand j
What I posted is happening
Plain and simple

oh and I don’t drink much
Haven’t had a drop since this stupidity yes
Stupidity started

Nyc pd pct set up with a barber that was working on the side
To cut 12 officers hair
In the middle of the night

you think there’s this great lock down going on
And I’m telling you it’s crumbling under its own weight

ppl are ignoring it
And rightfully so
