Coronavirus

And really wader after all these years you can’t imagine I give a fat rats azz what ppl here say or think about me

I don’t care what ppl I interact with in person say or think about me

I actually like the back and forth exchanges
Sure they get heated at times but that’s fine
And sure it’s pretty easy after all these years to know where a lot of us stand on many issues

and once any topic has this many pages we all know where everyone’s head is at

such is the nature of an intra net chat site

most only crazy if you disagree with it

you’d be surprised how many agree but are to afraid of the backlash from the snowflakes to speak up

I realize I’m in the minority but it’s more than you would think

and if you look around the world , even your community is coming around to the fact that
Lives matter but so do the economics

there goes crazy Tony again............
:)

That's not entirely true...........

I know many people (me included) that realize this lock down is not sustainable & is doing real damage but still do feel it is not a good idea to open up at this juncture. It's not just "snowflakes". It's a lot of reasonable people who think it's just to early.

All of the restaurants in my town & the surrounding areas have already stated that they do not plan to go to Phase 1 starting tomorrow. That they are going to stay with takeout & delivery. Even though they are losing a lot of money. They have posted it on their Facebook pages.

The funny thing that I picked up from the meeting I was part of this morning is that all of the participants that voted to go with the Commonwealth decision to open up tomorrow do not own any of the businesses. Those that voted nay - were the business owners.

When they spoke it was with a very measured degree of restraint & all awaited a response from the Community before positively giving their vote.

They are all (including the Mayor) up for reelection next week. So one has to wonder how much political consideration was given to their vote vs. consideration of the possible consequences of opening it up too soon. The business owners (all of which voted unanimously) to remain as is - had no problem staying shut for another 3 weeks or so as the County is petitioning the Governor to allow them to do.

"We've been closed this long, What's another 3 weeks?" seemed to be the common phrase.

And that’s all well and good if a business wants to and can afford to stay closed bully for them
Provided that they can somehow pay their employees as they stay closed
Because it’s damn unfair for a business owner to say sure I can afford to stay closed and my employees starve or worse
No worries the tax payers can carry them so I can stay closed

here’s the rub , I can afford to stay closed
My guys can’t afford for me to stay closed

I can afford to stay closed a lot of my completion can’t afford to stay closed , hell a lot of them may just fold up shop

I’m not against anyone staying closed or clients saying I’m not ( fill in the blank) ———-

We’re not all in the same financial position
And the govt is in no position to continue printing money to support either business or ppl

If any person or business can afford to sit on their hands without government life support they can do as they please
If any citizen can afford to sit at home without govt life support more power to them

the rest of the ppl need to work and the economy needs to get rolling

100000 small mom and pop shops have gone under already
It’s great if you say what’s another 3 weeks
Not everyone has another three weeks

I can tell you here in north brooklyn the most liberal place on earth sans California
The restaurants and shops aren’t saying another 3 weeks is just fine
With the exception of the couple guys that either have big bucks or are killing it in take out
Those guys are just licking their chops as the other place gang signs that say
Out of business

guess it’s all about your point of view
Public health and the risk from the virus
Vs
The economy and the risk of destroying it

We all know what camp I’m in

I don’t know but that health official from nyc made a something I’ve been saying for decades en vouge

must be a ny only expression
