Chesapeake 2026 Striped Bass Young of Year Results

MD, the key driver for NE striped bass, still down the crapper, VA close to the long term average, but up from last year. NY data should be released soon

Still analyzing the data. Gut reaction is fish are holding their own, but we're going to be continuing our "Overs" releasing without many "Unders" over the next 4 or so year.

Certainly a fair number of 40-50lb class fish around. I guess 15-18yr olds.

Many personal bests were caught in the last 2 weeks.............as for juveniles, the data speaks for itself. Few and far between.

Yes. About 2-3 weeks ago was a body of big fish South of Long Beach to Rockaway reef.

When did bass start to be spoken of in inches? A 40 has always meant 40 POUNDS in my neck of the woods.

Nah, it's the old school terminology I've also been trying to kick. I finally have gotten away from the old school definition of "Schoolie" being fish less than 15 or so pounds, using the newfangled schoolie of anything under the slot, along with Overs as fish over the slot.

Us elder statesman that started fishing in the 60s into the first collapse have some legacy lingo that is hard to kick. We only have 4 lure types, Plugs, Poppers, Tins and Worms, another source of "Failure to Communicate"...
