    Smoked Mackerel

215 degrees for about 1/2 an hour is not really a fish smoking tempature. That’s cooking the fish. Mackerel, should be hot smoked which is about 40-45 degrees Celsius, which would be between 104-113 F. Do that for about 12 hours.

    Garmin vs Simrad

Thanks Captain Mike, My search started about a year ago. I was initially looking for a flush deck but ended up with a mid engine, hard top, soft back. There were trade offs for each, but the mid engines are more plentiful so hence much easier to find one. After traveling up and down the east...

    Protecting reels while underway

Depending on your vessel, and the sea conditions, your rods/reels can experience much more than just a “spray” of salt water. The long treks to and from the offshore grounds can sometimes literally turn your cockpit into a very intense salt water shower. The drenching amount of salt water...

    Protecting reels while underway

I like the old Penn yellow vinyl covers. Keeps the spray off the reels, and dry as a bone.

I remember fishing the acid waters for Bluefish back then as well. IIRC a green banana was popular during that time period.
