The average "fisherman" knows nothing of three bluefish, one weakfish, etc., let alone the length on most. Hell, my local bay constables barely know the basics ! Heck, I "schooled" one last year about the blues and weaks.
the vocal minority that own the party boats will never go for a lower bag limit or a slot. As my favorite tackle shop owner in Amityville told me years ago, even if its unlikely, a paying customer wants to have the hope of four fish or a doormat, or both... So long as the commercials rule...
I agree with you regarding the "for hires." They obviously don't care that their legacy will be that of the fate of the winter flounder, whether that was overfishing's fault or not. Having never been on a partyboat I still can see how after spending fifty bucks one could want to bring home...
Still a fan of a fluke slot limit, but why do we need a bag limit of more than two ? this summer has been my worst since the year after Sandy. I have never seen fewer snappers and smaller groups of peanuts (in my area).
the Bills didn't care, the Jets, well, the Jets were the Jets, so maybe Thursday against the Pats will be a better estimate, but that first half of the season, yeah, OY !
this time of year there are always people fishing for snappers (and ignoring the three fish limit !) But these people are few and far between in my backbay area this summer. As for the peanuts, very little compared to usual here. what few snappers I have livelined are just bitten in half...
I pay little to no attention to the virus stuff anyway. Only started with the shots as swmbo worked for a dentist back then and our cruise (at first) wanted proof of the shot. Going to Unwatch this thread. Ttfn
I had just missed an age cutoff shortly after getting my first license 20 years ago. But when i hit 70 bought the lifetime and like my pensions, just sit back and emails and deposits roll in lol.
