Took my crew out for a quick sunset trip to do some topwater fishing in the bay. We had quite a mixed bag on swimming plugs. Stripers, blues and fluke!!
Started out the day with bottom fishing in mind but was worried it would still be off from the recent storm. It sure was off, only had a few small sea bass and porgies. So I switched over to the troll and managed a few small albies. Ocean was gorgeous so it’s better than being at work!
Limited out yesterday on the fluke grounds in the ocean. Using bucktails, fish strips and the all important fat cow jig strip! Fished the whole incoming tide and had ALOTTA shorts.
Had a real mixed bag day of fishing wit my partner/son. Lol. Had the biggest triggerfish ive ever caught weighing 4 1/2lbs. Those guys put up quite a fight and are delicious in case u didnt know! Rounded out the day with fluke, porgies, bluefish and sea bass.
Sorry for the late report, but yesterday was best fluking day yet on the ocean! It was nasty and we didnt get to fish where we wanted but it turned out to be great! Bucktails were the key with strip baits!
Got out for a few hours today and found some good fishing off the beach. Throwing yo-zuri and SP minnow plugs under patches of birds and landed some spanish mackerel and cocktail blues. Top of the tide.
Headed outta Jones with the boys and nailed a good one. Jumped twice and put on a show! Had all different baits but this guy took the old faithful bunker. We finished up our chum and we were about to pull then BAM we’re on! The rest is history and delicious steaks on the grill!
