Anybody ever serve in the USCG Auxiliary ?

Last summer I was at Wantagh Park with my Boat and 3 or 4 Guys came into dock their USCG Auxiliary Boat. They were all wearing Those Blue Coast Guard Uniforms and had those Orange life vests on. I thought what the heck are Coast Guard Guys out on an Auxiliary Boat ??

Anybody ever serve in the USCG Auxiliary ?

Saw some You Tube Video's , a Coast Guard recruiter said those in the Auxiliary can do everything in the Coast Guard except Law Enforcement and Warfare. They can get advanced Navigation training and other training from the Coast Guard and if qualified they could get called up to Active Duty...

    It ain't always about keepers

I fished Jones Inlet yesterday ( 6/25) at the end of outgoing/beginning of Incoming tide and the Fluke Fishing was awful. Caught 2 short Fluke, a Dogfish and a Skate. I read the NY Angler up to date fishing forecast /report that said Jones Inlet was the place to fish and it said Green was the...

    OK Fluking

Sailed from Wantagh Park , stopped a little West of the 3rd Wantagh because I saw birds diving and saw a gazillion small baitfish in the water. Sandeels ?? Saw the birds and thought Fluke feeding on them. No bites. Continued down and tried off the Jones Beach Piers , nothing. Saw birds all over...

Upstate NY is so much prettier than Colorado , Utah.

Went out to Las Vegas, Utah , Colorado using my Frontier Airlines $299 Go Wild All you can fly pass and that'll probably be the last time I go out there again. Upstate NY is lush green and heavily forested, Colorado and Utah look all dried out and ready to burn down. They have 2 kinds of trees...

    Bass and No Fluke

I remember 2 or 3 years ago there was a very slow start for Fluking and it was slow until about the end of June. People thought the Wind Mills had something to do with it. But I got skunked Porgy Fishing out in Peconic 2 weeks ago so who really knows ? Just hope it's not overfishing. Combs Bait...

What has the Government done to prevent another 9/11 from happening again ?

I was returning on Frontier Airlines from Dallas Fort Worth the other night and the Plane I was in flew right over the Freedom Tower and Manhattan . So creepy flying over that Freedom Tower thinking what happened almost 25 years ago. You'd think they'd ban flights over Manhattan ?? Crazy! It...

    Alibaba Pickup Truck Campers

Saw a You Tube video about a guy who purchased a Camper Top on Alibaba for his Nissan Frontier Truck. About $1400 shipped to your door. Guy said it was really good quality, just took a long time to ship it. Sure beats paying $4000. Made out of Aluminum. Very easy to install. The hard top Torneau...

    Flounder

They survived up there because they could summer in the bays up there and not go in the ocean. Raritan Bay Flounder survived because they were out of reach of the draggers.

    Flounder

Yeah, I remember in the early 1980's when the Flounder migrated down Reynolds Channel and either exited out Jones or Debs Inlet. It was easiest fishing ever so close to the dock. Across from the Town Of Hempstead Boat Ramp in Point Lookout - you anchored maybe 50 feet off the Marsh and dropped...

    Flounder

MOJOE , Amazing all the things we did/used to catch Flounder back in the day. I still remember all the Flounder fishing spots in the bay. Yellow sinkers, bouncing sinkers, spreader rigs ( which nobody sells anymore) , Mussel chum , lifting the rod tip up to get a bite, using plungers to stir...
