    Jersey Fishing Expo

Me and my friends hit the show yesterday morning. Thank goodness for on-line ticket sales, saved at least 30 minutes of standing in line outside, with a cold breeze making it very uncomfortable. All the big tackle players were there. The Daiwa and Shimano exhibits were quite well stocked. Wish...

    Titanium Fishing Pliers

I dunno. I find it tough to justify the cost of any of the better titanium pliers. I spend plenty on unnecessary dumb fishing stuff, but just can't see it for a pair of pliers. Maybe someday, but not THIS day. I bought these from Amazon last Spring ($25), used them all season and can't find a...

    Daiwa reels

Which reel has this handle knob issue? It sounds like you have either dirt stuck inside the knob or corrosion of the handle knob's center shaft. Common problems. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think either of your mentioned reels feature removable knobs with ball bearings inside, so just...

    Daiwa reels

What does this mean? Are you saying that you want to "back reel" and the reel will no longer do that? Also, stiff cranking is no bueno in any small spinning reel. I refuse to use a reel like that. Without having the reel here to figure it all out, it sounds to me like either over greasing...

Post up up your 2019/2020/2021/2022 Blackfishing Pix/Reports/Adventures/Musings

I've linked to Oser Outdoors' channel before. He gets some nice fish up there in Narragansett Bay. Its a channel worth following.

    Daiwa reels

That's an easy-peasy reel to work on. What's wrong with them?

    Daiwa reels

I can't comment with any authority, as I've never had a warranty claim on any reel - and would handle any such repair myself. I'd rather just buy the parts and do it myself, rather than pay two-way postage and wait months for someone else to maybe get it right. Basic maintenance is easy, but...

Wanna build a rod but don't have a table-top wrapping setup to spin on the threads?

Yes, according to posts I've seen on the definite web board, www.rodbuilding.org. I notice that on this last build video no color preserver was used - which NFC says in required.

Me too. But that Boone bag looks good.

So you just HAVE To have a high-end fluke reel color-matched to your rod wraps?

My grandson intro'ed me to Swedish Fish, but I'll be damned if I'd commission a rod like that. Now maybe Almond Joy or Mounds Bar, but NOT Swedish Fish. Never!

Every Winter I put up a Video like this

And this might be the best one yet. An American manufacturer building rods from scratch. I need to look deeper into their offerings.

Wanna build a rod but don't have a table-top wrapping setup to spin on the threads?

Thread Edit The first set of pix in this thread were of silk thread, NOT this new carbon tape technology. My mistake, and I own it.

Wanna build a rod but don't have a table-top wrapping setup to spin on the threads?

Here's a few more interesting applications of this new rod tech. From NFC/Edge Rod's Instagram account obviously. If the logon window appears and you don't have an Instagram account, just use the "X" to close it. The vids will then play. Dragon Scale Trim Abalone Trimmed The flyrod guys...
