Amazing how the Amish are taking over Upstate NY!

I remember when I purchased my upstate land in 2009 there weren't many Amish up there. . My land is located in Northern Chenango County about a mile from the Madison County Line. Now the Amish are up there in good numbers. They're the fastest growing demographic in the State, they have large families . Blew my mind the first time I saw an Amish Buggy ride right in front of my property. Amazing seeing that when you never expected to see it. . I was sitting in my car in front of my property relaxing. I looked down the road and I saw this brown thing coming down the road. Thought it was some hick with a pile of garbage. Thing got closer and closer and about 150 yards away I realized it was an Amish Buggy and a Horse coming straight toward me. Maybe 50 yards away I saw the Amish Guy and I waved to him and he waved back as he passed by.. So spooky seeing that when you're all by yourself, on a deserted country road almost surrounded by state forest/private land woods . Got out of my car and quickly took a picture of the Buggy as it was riding away because I wanted to show people what I saw. By far the weirdest thing I ever saw in my life !
The Women Amish look very spooky in their black 19th Century clothing/ black Bonnets. Saw them walking into Mcdonald's . Funny I never see Amish Children, just the adults doing their shopping in the Town Of Norwich. The Amish didn't wear masks during Covid 19. Now most of the roads in my area have warning signs about Amish Buggies. So weird passing an Amish Buggy on the Road. They move into an area in mass and quickly multiply to about 40 families and then some break away and form new communities. You can imagine how fast their communities grow when each family has 7 or 8 children. I was driving up to my property in July and right outside the Town Of Norwich there's an Amish Community growing. Black Buggies means a Conservative Amish Sect. That's the group in my area. Many came from Lancaster County Pa. where land sells for $25,000 an acre, they're drawn to NY where they can buy open farmland for $2000 an acre.

I bought an Amish Shed from Sheds Unlimited in Lancaster County PA. and a whole crew of Amish and Non Amish came down to Long Island and built a Shed on my property. Looked out the window and saw the Young Amish guys with their Amish clothing and haircuts pounding away with hammers. Must of been funny seeing them walk into McDonald's down here for lunch and see how the locals reacted when they saw Amish people buying lunch. I'm sure they had lunch at a fast food place after building our shed. Actually I bought 2 sheds from them, I have another one up on my property in Chenango County. Turned a simple 12x 20 shed into a hunting cabin.

No excuse why she hit that buggy . You don't run into a buggy on an open road like that unless there was something wrong with you. The Amish where I am have to travel along winding tree lined hilly roads . People in rural areas drive way too fast and just like that I have a bunch of cars behind me waiting to pass when I'm going 50-55. I drive along those roads ready to brake for a deer, a dog or a cat coming out of no where.
