Announcing the passing of Captain Pete Pearson Jr of the Klondike IX

It is with great sadness that the fishing community has learned on the passing of Captain Pete Pearson Jr of the Klondike IX at a young 52 years old. I used to run a Party Boat out of Huntington in the evenings and occasionally days and recall his great sense of humor and kindness on the water. I am sure Capt13 will have more to say as he had much more contact. Please see the link below for his obituary which is incomplete as of this writing.
Please remember his family in your prayers.

Fisherman Prayer

God grant that I may live to fish,

Until my dying day,

And when it comes to my last cast,

I then most humbly pray,

When in the Lord's safe landing net,

I'm peacefully asleep,

That in his mercy I be judged,

As good enough to keep.

Rest in Paradise.

This is an absolute shock to me. I fished with Pete and his dad multiple times. I fished with him on their first ever tuna trip. He used to let us tie up our 17 mako there. He also taught us a lot about fishing that area.

Here's Pete Jr., exhausted and covered in tuna on one of those unforgettable fishing trips. RIP.

It's very sad. I knew Pete for close to 40 years, as a customer, as a friend and as a deck hand from another boat and eventually as a deck hand on the Klondike. He loved fishing and really knew his stuff and was willing to share his knowledge freely to all that were willing to listen. He was a great story teller and had an amazing number of crazy and funny stories that would keep us laughing until it hurt. He absolutely relished the offshore trios they ran and a really tried to get them doing again last season. Fair winds and following seas my friend :(

I grew up in the New Rochelle area .Fished on the original Klondike wooden fishing boat with My grand father. As a teenager worked as a mate one summer along with Capt Pete Sr. Pete Jr ,Bobby and Gary . Pete Jr Later became captain .And i brought my son on his first fishing trip on his boat . Ill be making this return trip this week with my son .Return to the Klondike. I was not aware of Pete's passing . But i do remember the days of the past ,that we fished as kids and all the years of fishing that this three generation's of great fishing Captains has provided .I thank you for introducing me to my first love (Fishing).
