Any present or past Black hole 701L owners?

Absolute nonsense. You should try giving your irrational Shimano hatred a rest once in a while.

You come off as a hack when you say that stuff. You don’t want that, do you? Because I get numerous comments coming back to me like that about you. Continually saying that sort of stuff is badly hurting people’s impression of you.

Just some no-charge advice - up to you whether or not you take it. But please stop polluting every rod or reel thread on THIS board with endless Shimano-bashing commentary. You’ve done it for years and it stops now. And I really hope you get that I mean it.

The truth hurts Shimano stinks !

But to the novice angler I can see why they would think otherwise

I've never been a big fan of Shimano but my buddy went all out this year with the grapplers. He has both spinning in the L and ML and conventional in ML, MH, and H. I ended up using his ML spinner during a hot bite after I busted my setup. I fell in love with the rod, if I hadn't been under the weather most of the month I would of picked one up to finish off the season. Great recommendation Lep, keep up the great reviews.

TYVM! Good to hear that there are still some open-minded guys around here!

Have a great Turkey-day!

I liked my ML on the recent Tog trip. Really fun on light tackle.

They are a bit pricey but a quality product. Not everyone can afford a $600 custom. I roll my own and with the cost of a quality blank and components (if not backordered for months) is the same for a high end rack rod like these grapplers or similar. I’m going to pick one up for the fluke season. Hopefully on sale.

Keep your eyes on the Internet. A bunch of the 6' Type J rods were purchased on line for for $169 (ML) and $199 for the M. I know, because I "grappled" an M at that price. As did quite a few others around here.

According to my math that means 3 rods from the retail prices I've seen, buy 2 get one free

$300 for two!

I got a game J when they were discontinued for a great price from TD. It was a MH, and I have not used it too much yet. That said, I have caught many fish (seabass to bluefin tuna) on standard Trevalas, Trevala S, Trevala F, and Terez rods and I liked them all. Still own most of them. I am just a tackle enthusiast that likes to try different brands as well.
