Anyone deal with VROOM???

Learned Colleagues: Not in the mood for dealing with a private sale for my 2014 Equinox. VROOM offered a decent price so I'm intrigued, but curious if any of you have dealt with them?

I know Car Gurus make you pay $99 to broker the deal, but can't find any fees for VROOM so they actually buy the car, correct?

Any other thoughts, potential unpleasant surprises?

Son does not think it was so delineated but says they probably factored it into the final price. He left it at our mechanic's who was trying to fix a recurring electrical problem (and never did !) and they came with a ramp truck, left a check for Ken with our mechanic, and hauled it off. Easy peasy. How bad is Maine sales tax ? CANY might chime in soon.

By NY standards, it's a nuisance tax at 5.5%, and that's across the entire state, believe it or not...

My son had "average" yearly mileage on the Challenger. Mint, although it could have used some polish and inside cleaning. I remember he was given at least a thousand over book value. He bought it in January of 2015 and sold it to Carvana in 2015. 12 or 13K ?? God knows what Carvana then sold it for, although with their 6 month warranty they either had to fix it before or in those first 6 months ! I doubt he could have gotten more in a private sale, and with the weird electric electronic problem he would have ended up on one of those courtroom tv shows !

Never dealt with any of them

Just an update, Vroom pimped me because they can't figure out how to send a FedEx to a home (mine) that doesn't get mail delivered to because of a Catch-22. If you no one has ever gotten US Mail delivered to their house, that address doesn't show up in the official USPS Mail Address list which many things like FedEx check. MOST folks just override that and send the FedEx, UPS and DHL shipments to my address after they verify with me that it's correct, but there are some Internet Companies like Groupon and now Vroom, that "it does not compute."

No worries for me, went to Plan B which is Carvana. They actually offered me $300 more than Vroom, but by virtue of some phone conversations, informed me that I'd have to drive the car to somewhere around Portland, 1/2 between my house and their Danvers, MA place since I was out of their 150 mi service radius. Based on that I opted to eat the $300 figuring it was almost a wash, having to schlep down to Portland with the Admiral at the helm of her barge.

Well, turns out Plan B should have been Plan A. Went to the Carvana website and said "Drop Off My Car", but was perplexed when it told me to drive the car up to Waterville. I hit the "Back" button on the browser and clicked on "Pick Up My Car". Much to my delight and amazement, I was allowed to pick up a pickup appointment that was immediately confirmed via texts and emails. Sheesh, wish I had done this first and not spent hours on the phone with Vroom idiots in AZ swearing they had sent me 3 FedEx document packages that never appeared.

Let's see how the pickup goes next week...

My son had no problems whatsoever when he sold to Carvana.

Just finished up with Carvana. Great company recommend them highly. They paid us almost $300 more than Vroom offered, AND $3,500 more than CarMax!!

If you have an extra vehicle right now, it's probably the best time ever to sell...
