This is the Ambrose forecast. We are leaving out of Freeport, so I'm thinking he may head to the Highlands? If you're fishing NJ, anything westerly is ok. Anywhere else, hold on!
You gave it a good shot MattNice job! I had one short fish all day today. We are on our way in now. It was rough with the waves and trying to move the rod so you still felt bottom. Never went over 10 oz mind you. There was never a bite build up so it was far and few between. You'd get a little nibble here and there.
Enjoy the white stuff; I miss itMy area of the Western Sound (West of Rye and Matinecock Pt.) went from on fire (see photo) to not a tap in two weeks.
Yesterday i tried wrecks at 100' and 70' and rock piles at 40' and 35' and we had barely a sniff.
My boat gets pulled Saturday.
But first it's a trip on the Gypsea and a last run to Newport for Sunday.
Def my best blackfish season on my boat in terms of the number of 18" to 23" fish.
Let's see what happens over the weekend.
Then ski season starts!
