Got out for the afternoon out of Bay Shore on Monday. Not much for birds or action in the bay on my way outside. Broke the inlet around 1130am and there were two fleets, one just outside to the east and one west out by Gilgo. Decided to run west since that's were all the Charters were. Everyone was fishing on large pods of bunker in about 30' with little to no surface action. Had two poles set up with circle hook free line and were jigging large white hogy soft plastic swim baits. Between myself and my buddy, we had about 8 large bass, all 42"+ and managed to get one keeper slot at 31. Flat ocean and beautiful day out there. Stayed outside the fleet and on the edge of the pods. Nice to see large fish close to FI.
