Blackfish Jigs and colors

Last few years I've been using snafu less and slider (a.k.a Belmar) rig more. Great rig to use with Hermits

When I snell my own hooks I use either Owner SSW cutting point 3/0 or Mustad Big Gun 3/0. As far as the "jigs" I have bought some from Tidal Tails or All American Tackle.

Mustad Big Gun 3/0. And I think my jigs are Tidal Tails.

Also, in his book, John Skinner mentions using a blackfish jig for porgy. The hook looks too big on most I have seen.

You can use the smaller jigs for Porgy. I'd say 1oz and less. If you watch his video you see him catching Porgies with the jigs.

Yes, But just like Tog, I find that 2oz and above is a lot and I don't hook up as much. So using a 3oz jig, maybe you will get a porgy...maybe not. I haven't tried.

Beside hooks, there are a ton of shapes. The only thing I can think of is the some shapes are less likely to get stuck on a sticky bottom

If color does not matter much, do doubt the eyes will be an advantage.

These are the ones I use. Very happy. Get connected and stay connected. Getting stuck is part of the game, but I see no downside with these.
