Blackfish jigs

Fished with Dante from Magic Tails in January down in MD back in January, his tog jigs definitely have one of the strongest hooks I've seen.

I personally prefer the football jigs Dominic from Backwater makes, buddy and I had a 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, and a few other nice ones.
I fished with Dante a few years ago in R.I. , he makes a nice jig but I’m “hooked “ on Doms stuff too

When it comes to jigs,I’ve used a lot of different ones over the years.Alls I use anymore is Doms backwater baits and Dante’s magic tails.Domonics jigs get more use as his are priced better and we fish together on a few charters each year.
One thing Domonic did last year was get some new paint that was Very impressive. It was going to raise the price just slightly and he was having trouble getting enough of it.He gave me a few prototypes and alls I can say is after fishing 2 jigs for 3 days in RI the finish was barely chipped. In RI we do not lose a lot of jigs as the natural bottom is very forgiving but takes the paint off jigs like a sander.I’m not big on color but in RI I only use glow jigs as they produce better than any other. Its always nice if your jig has not lost all its glow.Domonic has really stepped up the backwater football jigs with his new paint.I hope all his jigs have them this year. Not saying other jigs don’t produce as well. These two brands work for me so I’m sticking with them.

Thanks for the advice. Personally, I have caught some fish with jigs, and I don't doubt that it's an effective method. But for some reason, I have little confidence when to set the hook and I've missed a lot of fish with them. In the meantime, the guy right next to me is mohawking them with jigs.

I have the same issue fluking conventional. The feel I get using a spinner and the control I have over the rod is much clearer to me. Last week I tried out a new grappler with a corado baitcaster while fluking and I missed many fish.

Maybe your suggestions will help me this year when tog season gets here and I appreciate your input.
Well George it's Spring tog time if the boats ready. I find when fishing for tog with jigs its best not to swing at anything that hasn't picked up the jig and started swimming away with it. That's how I do it anyway.
