Checked all the local docks yesterday, not one fish caught. I tried a couple spots this morning with out a touch. Eelgrass on every cast.
Has anybody seen our devil eyed friends?

only 1 cocktail out in Montauk came up while fluke fishing last week.

There was a guy last Wednesday at the Wellwood docks in Lindenhurst. I’m gonna say it was about 7.30 AM he was tossing a snapper popper and almost every cast he hooked up. Fluke bait size 4” to 5”

It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s nice to see eel grass around. It’s been absent for sometime now.

My son has been putting his time in around our local docks, different tides, different hours of the day for zero.

For two weeks I have been catching up to the limit of 5 for livelining. All taken on a popper rig and not near the docks but most of the way out of the creeks and near the open bay. Certainly not as plentiful as just a few years ago. Managed a 19" weak and a 20" fluke Sunday and Monday. Little to no eel grass in my area. Sea lettuce was a nuisance this morning but the stiff wind made livelining really tough. This time of year I give up using Gulp! as the tails are bitten off so quickly by "whatevers" down below. I have also noticed peanut cast netters working longer and harder to get what they want.
