BRAIDED LINE.

briefly, my first braid 25 years ago was Power Pro, honestly the shitt just melted… it was said the manufacturer had a bad batch, as i wasn’t the only one who had the problem… so i was always cautious bout buying braided at triple the cost over mono… cellie…

haha, maybe 25 years ago when i was a greenie, my Tip Top may have been cracked then too… cellfish…

25 years ago, fishing on line chat tip’s weren’t around then too…

STILL LEARNING… cellfish…

ya know, i felt a bit of drag on the retrieve too…

I had experienced the cracked tip top in florida wit Stanley’s cheap poles… the mono showed fray & splits… the braid, it’s not as visible… cellfish…

You nailed it. Was getting cut off off while jigging for cod years ago and after a very careful inspection of all guides, noticed a tiny crack in the tip top.

Another "puzzler" was getting broken off with a new bunch of red glass beads from Cabela's. I used to put one above my snap swivel on my jigging rods to prevent over eager anglers from running the swivel up into the tip top. Turned out that the inside of the beads wasn't "glassy smooth" and was cutting off my rigs, so that big bag of beads went into the garbage.

Seems when braid came out, most of use used rods with either metal or hardoloy guides. They didn't hold up to the "filing" effect braid has. Over the years, I switched to SiC guides on all my braid rods. They're more expensive but well worth the investment if you're having a rod built or refinished.

even though i use a tip top cover when not in use, i may have heard / hit a slight tap when setting up or down… last week or so…
fragile those ceramic circles… C22…

One of my favorite Bogart movies of all time!

H.B : " I know your type, Johnny Rocco. You're never satisfied. You always want more..."
E.G.R.: " That's right, Soldier. I want more, yeah more!!!"

Classic dialogue, that never gets old.

The Pompano dish looks great too!!

yes, never gets old indeed… cellie…

Geez......
Hmmm....... I'd check the rim of that spool. Looks like it went through a meat grinder ?

thanks yes, beside the slime before washing off, there is a minor nick as it shouldn’t interfere wit reeling and casting…

i may try to soften wit a fine file or at best getting a replacement spool… $150… cellie… ?
