Alright, listen up. The city's still got fish, you just gotta know where to find 'em. The wind's been a pain, but that's November for ya. You don't like the weather, wait five minutes. But if you can get out, it's worth it. The fishing's been solid.

Striped Bass

The bass are still around, and they're hungry. We're seeing fish of all sizes, from schoolies to some real slobs. The night bite has been the ticket for the bigger fish. Get yourself some live eels and head to the bridges. The lights draw in the bait, and the bass are right there with them. During the day, weighted soft plastics are a good bet. The water's cooling down, so the fish are starting to get a little sluggish, but they'll still eat if you put it in front of their face.

Blackfish

The tog bite is on fire. The reefs are holding a ton of fish, and we're seeing a lot of keepers. Green crabs are the way to go, as usual. The fish are in a little deeper now, so you'll want to focus on the 40 to 60-foot range. It's been a good, steady pick, and you should be able to put a few in the cooler without too much trouble.

The Word on the Street

Jamaica Bay is starting to slow down. The water's getting cold, and the fish are moving out. You can still pick at a few bass around Canarsie Pier and the Breezy Point side, but it's not what it was. The action is better out in the harbor and along the beaches. The surf guys are still getting into them on the windy days. Atlantic Beach has been hot.

The Bottom Line

The fishing's still good, but you gotta work for it. The weather's gonna be a factor from here on out, so pick your days. The bass are here, the tog are chewing, and there's still plenty of action to be had. So get out there and make it happen. And remember, be safe. This ain't the time of year to be taking chances.
