Sorry for the late report but with the sketchy weather last week I was playing catch up with a lot of rescheduled trips.
Surrounding our brief visit by Debby, I ran 3 Bay trips for different family groups. Porgy fishing in the Peconic’s continues to be strong although most of the fish are much smaller than during our fabled spring run. Still on each of the half day outings we managed to box about 12-20 nice keepers for the group’s efforts. As is typical this time of year more of a mix with several snappers now starting to show, several short Sea Bass, and several small Tog.
Yesterday I had Brian and his 2 sons, Owen, and Preston out for a half day as the winners of this year’s raffle from the Ward Melville HS Fishing show. The trio proved that fishing is indeed their passion. We started with solid Bluefish action in the Gut on the ebb tide with 13 savages boated and a few in the mid to upper teen class, real brutes. We also were fortunate to find 2 Stirpers with one making it into the slot size. As the tide eased, we ran across to CT for some good Sea Bass action After sorting through a bunch of fish we ultimately put 6 nice keepers to 17.5” in the box. Sor for the cost of a raffle ticket this family enjoyed a real super half day of summer fun aboard the Captain’s Table.
