Coronavirus

My buddy in Suffolk, vaxxed and boosted, got a cold, thought he lost it, and when it returned he did a home test and it was pos. He then went and got an official two day PCR (?) to confirm. A couple days later he gets an email from the county about quarantining, masking etc etc even though he knew to do that stuff anyway. THEN he gets a second email that was actually threatening, filled with legalese and "therefores" and "herebys" and speaking of Supreme Court actions ! If I knew how I would sanitize the text he sent me and post it. You would think he was carrying the bubonic plague ! I know now that I will just take the home test and not tell anyone shit.

a type of flu maybe, but the original strains were a bit more severe than most "traditional" flu strains. then there are the thousands with the seemingly permanent ill effects, the so-called "long haulers." No thanks, SWMBO and I are going to truly quarantine ourselves for a week or two before our Med cruise in September.

finally figured out how to post the text I got from my buddy: anyone else get something like this from the fascists in Yaphank ?

In the Matter of The Isolation of: 'anonymous'

Pursuant to Section 2100 of the Public Health Law

WHEREAS, COVID-19, formerly known as 2019-Novel Coronavirus is an infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that is associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, appears to be transmitted from person to person predominantly through droplet transmission and, when spread in the population, has significant public health consequences; and
WHEREAS, COVID-19 is believed to have emerged as a human pathogen in China in December 2019 and as of September 1, 2021 there have been 39.3 million cases and 641,000 deaths in the United States, including 2.3 million cases and 53,800 deaths in New York State; and
WHEREAS, on January 30, 2020 the World Health Organization designated the COVID-19 outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern; and
WHEREAS, on January 31, 2020, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II declared a public health emergency for the entire United States to aid the nation’s healthcare community in responding to COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, Section 2100 of the Public Health Law mandates that all local health officers, being Commissioners of Health and Public Health Directors, as the case may be, of County Health Departments, guard against the introduction of such communicable diseases as are designated in the State Sanitary Code, by the exercise of proper and vigilant medical inspection and control of all persons and things infected with or exposed to such diseases; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 2020, pursuant to 10 NYCRR Section 2.1(a), Dr. Howard A. Zucker, as Commissioner of Health of the State of New York, designated 2019-Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) as a communicable disease under the State Sanitary Code; and
WHEREAS, on February 6, 2020 the New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council ratified the designation of 2019-Novel Coronavirus, now known as COVID-19, as a communicable disease under the York State Sanitary Code through the adoption of emergency regulations amending 10 NYCRR Section 2.1; and
WHEREAS, 10 NYCRR 2.29 provides that whenever a case of a highly communicable disease (as defined in 10 NYCRR Section 2.1) comes to the attention of the local health officer of a county, such local health officer shall isolate such patients as in his judgment he deems necessary; and
WHEREAS, on February 8, 2020, the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued “Interim US Guidance for Risk Assessment and Public Health Management of Persons with Potential Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Exposure in Travel-associated or Community Settings.” That guidance indicates, among other things, that people with confirmed COVID-19 should remain in isolation, either at home or in a healthcare facility as determined by clinical status, until they are determined by state or local public health authorities to be no longer infectious, and that isolation may be compelled by public health order, if necessary.
WHEREAS, laboratory results have confirmed that you are ill with and currently carrying COVID-19;
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority vested in me by section 2100 of the Public Health Law of the State of New York and 10 NYCRR 2.29, as Commissioner of the Department of Health Services of Suffolk County, I do hereby:

ORDER that, effective upon your receipt of this order, you are hereby directed to remain isolated at RIDGE, NY, 11961 or another location designated by the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, as a result of having been diagnosed with a communicable disease as defined in 10 NYCRR 2.1, specifically 2019-Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), until it is determined by your treating physicians, in consultation with the SCDHS, that you are no longer at risk of transmitting the disease to others.

Yeah, when we get close to our cruise we will go about masked to the grocery store and not see anyone outside of our homes for at least two weeks. with a pool and kayaks (enforced social distancing lol) and being retired, its easy for us to do.

So about 10 or 11 days ago my bride complains of a sore throat & a cough, the next day a low grade fever, takes a home test, positive. She calls her doctor who says because of her age, 74, & because she has had pneumonia 2X he wants to put her on Paxlovid, Next day I start to have symptoms, sore throat, no fever, but I feel like I been hit by a truck, take a home test Positive. I call my Doctor, explain what,s going on & she sends in a script for Paxlovid, I'm also 74. After we both finish the 5 day course with the meds. we both seem to feel fine, only side effects with the Paxlovid was a really bad metallic taste that lasted until a day after the last of the meds.
