Like I said, if "illness" is considered a side effect, there is no such thing as a vaccine by that definition, since they all have side effects. Infrequent cases of Guillain Barre syndrome is a prime example of a side effect of vaccinations.

If you're talking about not causing the illness the vaccine is designed to prevent, well the COVID mRNA vaccines are clear from that since they contain no viral proteins nor intact nucleotides capable of replication in them. There's NFW that they cause COVID.

As I mentioned before, the old oral Polio Vaccine, which is still used in the 3rd World, has attenuated live virus in it, and can cause local outbreaks when a bunch of infrequent events occur. George Washington had the Continental Army infected with a small dose of smallpox virus as a vaccine. Yeah, some got bad cases, but most got minor cases that triggered their immune system to make enough antibodies for protection from a major, fatal case.

One point that the conventional wisdom of the antivaxxer crowd loves to harp on is the thought that vaccines are like armor, they prevent you from getting infected. Great thought, but that's not how the immune system works. Your immunological system can only fight a disease when there's an infection in progress. Scotty can't turn on the shields...

F.D.A. Approves Moderna’s mRNA Flu Vaccine​

The agency had initially refused to even review the application but reversed course after a public outcry.
“Flu remains a significant public health challenge, and mFLUSIVA provides an important new option for America’s seniors,” Stéphane Bancel, Moderna’s chief executive, said in a statement. “This approval also reflects the ongoing potential of our mRNA platform to help address important public health challenges through continued scientific innovation.”

MRNA technology instructs the body to produce a fragment of a virus that then sets off the body’s immune response. It was the technology used in Covid vaccines that were given to hundreds of millions of people around the world. Two scientists were awarded a Nobel Prize in 2023 for their work on mRNA technology.

As a vaccine activist in 2021, Mr. Kennedy had petitioned the F.D.A. to pull mRNA Covid vaccines off the market six months after their initial rollout.
