New Yorkers told to go into self-quarantine if they travel to avoid spreading the coronavirus

Travelers leaving the New York metro area should self-quarantine for 14 days to make sure they aren't passing on the coronavirus, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force said Tuesday.
In making the recommendation, task force coordinator Deborah Birx said that the quarantine should apply even to those who aren't showing symptoms. She said many travelers are headed to locations outside New York City, from Long Island to North Carolina or other states.
Brix said 56% of all the coronavirus cases in the United States, as well as 60% of all new cases, are coming from the New York metro area. Greater New York City also accounts for 31% of deaths in the country.
The recommendation follows an order that took effect Tuesday by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis requiring anyone flying to Florida from New York, New Jersey or Connecticut to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. Alaska and Hawaii are also requiring anyone arriving from other states to self-quarantine.
Already, New Yorkers have been ordered to stay in their homes and the city has virtually shut down in an effort to quell spread of the virus.
Times Square is mostly empty Monday in New York. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered most New Yorkers to stay home from work to slow the coronavirus pandemic.

President Donald Trump characterized New York as a COVID-19 "hotspot."
“We have to deal with the NY metropolitan area as a high-risk area,” said Vice President Mike Pence, adding the infection rate is 1 in 1,000.

Yeah, we're experiencing Barbarian Hordes from NY, NJ, PA and MA trying to escape their winter environs to their summer homes up here. Would be nice if they self-quarantine, but I'm doubting it and would be appreciative of strict social distancing.

Back to Puerto Rico, which went bankrupt since

We all should be aware that the wholesale move of most industries including pharma, from Puerto Rico to China was the expiration of a US tax law that provided corporations big Federal Income tax incentives to manufacture in PR. I spent many days down there transferring the manufacture of some of my products.

This one was a self-inflicted wound...

There’s still around 56 or so medical device manufacturers and pharma companies operating down there. My sales got hammered when hurricane Maria hit. It was so bad they have since opened a new manufacturing plant in DR. Both are still operating.

I remember hospitals were rationing saline on a daily basis. One of the largest sterile saline stills is located on PR.

When this is eventually over, we need to bring back from China all aspects of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry. That Government cannot be trusted.

You know i was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. I went down to pick up one of my prescriptions and when i checked it out the pills were CUBES. Square cubes !! (i always check my scrips. out before taking receipt of them) Yeah CUBES i asked the pharmacist who the hell takes square pills ? he just chuckled and said " new manufacture". Long story short, i took my prescription to another drug store and had it filled with something i could swallow.

We're still down there and in the DR too, but few new projects got moved down once the Caribbean Tax Initiative Law expired. I loved going to visit our onsite Co-Generation plant. The head engineer was an Italian chief ship engineer because the generator was a HUGE cruise ship engine. The engineer was so proud of his facility, just a proud Papa willing to show anyone his Bambina and that was one heck of a beautiful facility; he had every right to be proud.

That tax law's expiration, along with crazy FDA regs on IVDs, started our company shifting production to Ireland. I'm not sure how much my old co sent over to China after I retired. I don't know of anything, but I do know many key compounds and components needed for mfg do come from China, just like virtually EVERY industry.

What company did you work for?

Thank goodness for Anthony Fauci. In an interview with a reporter he was asked what wants to do when 45 makes a scientific faux pas...

“I can’t jump in front of the microphone and push him down,” Dr. Fauci said. “OK, he said it. Let’s try and get it corrected for the next time.”

It should be noted that Tony has advised every president since Reagan...

Da wife and me may need stay here in s Florida for another month, instead of lower Manhattan, whatcha think, is it that bad... cellie... ?
No question if you are in a house, or condo I would stay. Wife & I were in an RV park, & came home because we decided if we got sick best place to be was in our house, not an RV.

NYC is the epicenter. Half the nation's cases are there. Those manhattanites that have houses in eastern LI already went out there, ordered a thousand freezers from the Riverhead P.C.Richards and wiped the grocery stores clean.
