At 7:00 pm tonite sirens went off all across Suffolk county to show support for our health care workers. I stood outside and hafta say it was moving. Mixed in were fireworks and people hitting their horns .....

You never responded to the first question: how does the virus potentially get transmitted from a human to a cat (animal)

The big cats were all suffering from a dry cough...only the tiger was tested because they do have to be put under.

I would guess that since these things can jump from non human mammals to us it should also work in reverse.

It was self-answered. The sick animals had an infected handler so it is likely that he/she transmitted it to the cats through aerosol transmission. To fully confirm this there would need to be a pretty complete viral analysis of both the cats' and handler's strains, but I'm thinking that's pretty low on the epidemiologist "Things To Do List". The animals could have a different infection that's not exactly COVID-19, but a different corona virus, but not different enough to cross react with the current COVID-19 test.

Regardless, this news must be very disconcerting for sick people who have cats or healthy people with sick cats. IMO IF there was transmission from humans to domestic cats and/or dogs, we'd know about it by now unless infections in domestic pets are asymptomatic so an owner wouldn't know if their pet was sick.

Mt Sinai using plasma from those that have recovered. They are finding differing amounts of antibodies in different samples. Looks promising
