Do they think we're idiots!

Hopefully this is mostly true....

It wasn't that long ago that Siemens was thinking of exiting the ...ahem... wind sector, because a looming dryup of government subsidies was going to kill the profitability of making wind turbines. Apparently the dryup didn't happen then, but without massive lobbying and the help of the media pounding every weather event as climate change to keep the drooling public on board it's still not an economically viable thing. Color me surprised.

Here's more reality for the planet martyrs:

The Virginia Aquarium’s Stranding Response team is investigating a second whale death in Hampton Roads this year.
Crews pulled a young humpback whale ashore on Wednesday near First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach.

In the case this week, Thompson said there were no obvious signs of recent entanglement or interactions with ships.
On Wednesday, crews examined the whale externally, then internally, with help from a crane.

Why is it that we have yet to get the necropsy results from most of the other kills? They're quick to point out the few that took boat strikes. Yet crickets on the others.

It's hard to believe that this is happening right before our eyes and no one is doing anything about it. To think this is just the beginning. Imagine what will happen when they begin to pile drive these fans directly in the migration path of these whales. It takes 3500 hits to get one in the ocean bed. Does anyone think this is a good thing?

My blood boils when I hear things like "The biggest threat to whales is climate change" Someone should inform them that whales survived the ice age! Whales survived many cycles of global cooling and warming over the past few million years. They may not survive this though.

At the same time they're trying to reduce boat speeds to ten knots and putting heavy restrictions on lobsterman to protect whales.

As a Long Islander I'm still paying for a nuke plant that was built, but the people stood up to it and shut it down. We need to put the brakes on this project before it's too late.

While it is encouraging to see the recent article JPD posted, we still have a long way to go to stop this madness. Even though it appears many of the very large International Companies are starting to hemorrhage huge amounts of cash with this debacle, we all know the taxpayer funded war chest that several Governments control seems to have few limits.
Seeing how there will be no stopping the greedy political types perhaps the only way to stop this is to end our investments in any firm engaged in building the components for the wind industry. If no one builds the parts, there is nothing to put up to further threaten our environment. (I know, very simplistic but these are desperate times.)

I agree with George that we need to put a stop to this ASAP. However, I just received my latest update from South Fork Wind (Orsted) that the 'interconnection cable laying work" has already begun just south of Amagansett this month. They claim it will be "safe for Fisherman to resume bottom disturbing activities" after 2/20/23. I know many of us have different opinions on how much trawling activity can adversely affect the sea floor but this comment from SWF is really disgraceful!!!

I can't wait to see what type of impact this all has on recreational fishing in the Montauk area this coming season!

Anybody ever try to replace a bulkhead on waterfront property?

Jetting boards in is a crime against the planet, and all marine life on earth, or at least the northern hemisphere is on the cusp of extinction, but dropping hundreds of pilings and tons of concrete monoliths on the ocean floor, that's going to save us! ?

Surveying operations from NJ to NC begin again next week. Let's see how many whales die along that stretch. It's important to point out that for every whale that's washing ashore its estimated that two more are ending up on the bottom.

These attachments show the areas they will be surveying and when.

There is a lot of momentum to slow this thing down. We will soon lose the right whale under our watch. I can remember a time when whale activists across the nation united and stopped the hunting of whales in our waters. It was a huge movement.

I remember a small zodiac stopping a whaler from working back in the 70s. Save Our Whales organized and won That's what we need.

Where the hell is Greenpeace? Are they still around? I just checked their website and the only thing I see is a link to a petition to ban oil and gas. I guess they don't care about the whales. Or could it be they have been asked to keep quiet or because their agenda includes killing whales?

It's obvious to most, including many scientists and marine biologists, that we the stewards of the sea, are witnessing the demise of a species that's been around for 50 million years. All in the name of what they call "green energy"

What a bunch of bull shit.

Reports say that 40% of the deaths are related to ship strikes or entanglements. I wasn't a math major but doesn't that leave 60% up for speculation?

If 1 whale died because work associated with these wind farms, shouldn't the project be shut down and revaluated?

Is a piping plover more valuable to our ecosystem than a whale? We certainly go above and beyond ensuring their survival!

and is nothing being said about the thousands of poundings to sink the pillars that might be disorienting the whales enough to get hit by a ship or large boat in the first place? (and piping plovers taste like chicken)

Great point!

Pew, Good Shepard and all those other "environmental" groups are conspicuously absent during all this.

Maybe ramming a Japanese vessel in international waters is easier than taking on big American corporation!!!!

Money talks. Hypocrites all.

Where are they? They would be a great help in this case. Maybe it needs to be made into a reality show
