Got it up to 75 in here now

Can't wait for my new tight house with a wood stove. My current rental is at 63o right now and thats been our max for this winter. Lots of layers.

Heat pump. It's a very charming but old house (1850's) that is very drafty and with a wind like today just sucks the warmth right out. It has toughened us up for sure. Next week looks like real nice weather.

Got a text yesterday afternoon from a local tree guy that’s one of my steady sources
He dropped 20 trees and says I can have all I want
So now its have some coffee and then go hook up the trailer

I picked up, uploaded, and stacked 1 load
Ran out time before i had to get ready to go to my sons gig
The “drop site” is maybe a mile from my house
The trailer tires were pushed to the limit of a heavy load
I’ll make as many mire trips as time and my back allows the next couple of days ???

All wood is cut nice and ready to haul?

Getting my last good indoor burns…..still burning last three days From morning till night

I've been using the cherry wood I got as a last delivery. I've never had cherry (wood that is ). Seems to burn hotter & longer then oak.

I went and got my 4th trailer load this morning from my connection
As i may have mentioned before my trailer is 4x8 with 2’ high side walls so a well packed load is about half a cord
Thats about 2 cords plus the other wood I have thats been sitting ready to split gives me 4 on hand to split

Not even a peep of a smell? ?‍?‍
When my stove is roasting and I open the door to reload I definitely get a whiff of the smoke....

Same here especially with cherry. But I'm still partial to Red Oak.

I have a pretty good draft on the stove - I very rarely get any blowback of smoke indide the house.

I totally get the good draft and no blowback which is awesome for you
But a fire still has an odor
I can tell when I'm burning maple vs. oak vs other woods
Some smell better/worse than others

I've never noticed it - doesn't mean I don't get it - just that I never noticed it.

Our Hearthstone stove never puffed backed either but we always enjoyed the aroma when we opened the door. Doesn't matter what wood is burning the smell always reminds me of Boy Scouts.

45o this morning here on ESVA. If I had a woodstove I'd have started a fire. New stove gets installed 5/31/22 in the new house. Just in time for summer.?
